Weekend Sales Assistant Opportunity

Hours: Saturday and Sunday 6am – 1pm
Start date: Early September

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking person to join our small local shop team.

You should be:

21+ and local, with good village knowledge
Friendly and confident with customers of all ages
Good at multi-tasking and able to work under pressure
Methodical, punctual and reliable
Happy with early morning starts
Physically fit and able to lift heavy items, including newspapers, cans and bottles
Enjoy being part of a team but able to work alone.
Willing to learn, take on new tasks and be up for a challenge

Previous retail experience would be an advantage but full training will be given.

The role includes:

Newspaper sorting, preparation of rounds for the delivery staff
Serving customers, till and cash handling
Operating the National Lottery terminal
Restocking, cleaning, checking and recording stock shortages, supervising volunteers, maintaining shop standards and once training is complete undertaking opening and closing procedures

Everyday is different, so you will need to be flexible, hands-on and ready to get stuck in!
A sense of humour is essential

Important Details:

Wages: £12.71 per hour at 21+. Probationary Period: 3 months
Pension Scheme after Probationary Period

As a small enterprise we work a buddy system to cover holidays and sickness. This may occasionally involve helping with a midweek shift.
